In 1954 the bakery moved to its current site in Worsbrough Bridge just outside of Barnsley town, this allowed the wholesale side of the business to rapidly develop. By the late 1990's White's Bakery had almost one hundred wholesale customers and employed seventy people. Jack's son David took over at this time having worked in the bakery since he was eleven years old and progressing through Sheffield College, where he studied baking technology, flour confectionery and business management.

David worked his way through each department in his bakery including finishing room supervisor and bakery manager before he took up his current role of Managing Director, which made White’s Bakery a third-generation business.

White's Bakery still operate a retail outlet stall in Barnsley Market for the sale of bread and teacakes but, in moving with the times, the company is very much focussed on the delicious range of manufactured goods that are produced; superb melt-in-the-mouth chocolate cookies; deliciously decorated gingerbread men (and their seasonal varieties of such); traditional style flapjacks and shortbreads and our irresistible array of individually-wrapped muffins.

To this day, White’s Bakery supply many baked goods to local authorities, caterers, schools, hotels and restaurants across Yorkshire and beyond. Recent contracts with a third party have also seen our range of Fair Trade cookies being sold at Wimbledon.

David’s son, Mathew White has recently taken his position as a Bakery Production Manager within the company, making White’s Bakery a fourth-generation family run business.

So from our humble beginnings in history, we have grown and progressed to the Bakery we have become today.
